Investor Readiness: Preparing a Technology Company to Be Funded, Not Just Pitched
Investor readiness is not a pitch deck. It is a company that can answer hard questions with evidence, and a plan that shows how the capital will retire risk.

Many technology companies prepare for fundraising by polishing their presentation. Investors, especially in deep-tech, look past it quickly, to the plan, the evidence and the team’s grasp of its own risks. Investor readiness means preparing the company, not only the story.
The elements of readiness
- A clear equity story: the problem, the advantage and the path to scale.
- A risk-based plan: which milestones the round will reach, and which risks they retire.
- A realistic operating plan: costs, timelines and the assumptions behind them.
- An organized data room, ready before the first meeting.
- A management team that can answer operational and technical questions in depth.
Evidence beats claims
Every important claim should be backed by something an investor can verify: test results, customer commitments, pilot data, supplier quotes, cost models. Where evidence does not yet exist, a clear plan to generate it is the next best thing.
Hardware, software and cyber
- Hardware: manufacturing readiness and the realism of capital needs are often decisive.
- Software: traction, retention and unit economics carry the story.
- Cyber: customer trust, references from security teams and the company’s own security posture matter as much as the technology.
How we work
We review the plan and the story through an investor’s eyes, identify the gaps that would weaken them in due diligence, help close those gaps, and prepare the team for the questions they will face. We do not raise money, broker deals or take success fees.
Common traps
- Starting to raise before the plan is ready.
- A use of funds that lists activities rather than milestones.
- Underestimating the time and cost to the next milestone.
- Discovering data-room gaps during due diligence.
